Staffing Advisors is pleased to share the announcement of the new President and CEO of St. John's Community Services, Alan Thornton. The original announcement from SJCS is below, in full:
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Thornton as the next President and CEO. Alan, currently the Chief Executive Officer at the Rescue Mission Alliance in Syracuse, New York, was selected following an extensive national search process conducted by Staffing Advisors. He assumes the position from interim executive director, Kathryn Stephens, who succeeded Roger Deshaies after his tenure concluded in late 2016.
We were humbled and honored by the tremendous interest shown by potential candidates and are excited about the skills and energy Alan will bring to the position. We look forward to the positive impact Alan will make at SJCS, leading a talented staff and helping us to continue to build the programs within the communities we have the privilege to serve.
In his current role at the Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse, Alan provides leadership and strategic direction for a multi-regional non-profit, overseeing 350 staff and a budget of $20 million with the mission of ending homelessness in New York.
Alan commented, "I am excited and honored to be joining the team at St. John's Community Services with its incredible legacy of service to the community, providing caring and innovative opportunities for the inspiring people it serves. I look forward to building on the storied 150-year history of advocacy and inclusion, and with the help of all our stakeholders, discovering new ways to achieve our mission."
Alan will be joining the SJCS team on Monday, November 27. We look forward to providing future updates. In the meantime, please visit our new SJCS website, and connect with us on Facebook, where we feature interesting articles and share updates from the field.
