When your hiring process crashes into reality

Experts often think they are good at things that are outside their realm of expertise. We all generalize from what we know to make sense of what we don’t know…but doing so does not always serve us well. Research shows that all of us, and especially experts, are prone to an exaggerated sense of how well we understand the world. Unfortunately, when you are the expert and you've raced ahead of your headlights into unfamiliar territory, you probably will not realize it…unless you have someone to challenge your thinking.
